does anyone know if they will be looking at 2006 or 2007 income?

It really aggravates me to see that, since the tax breaks to the wealthy didn't work, the gov't now sees that there is, indeed, a middle class of working and retired people. it further aggravates me that they don't want us to save but spend, spend, spend.
I'm putting mine in my money market account thank you.

Rebate will go to savings. This is a short-sighted solution, because too few will use it on additional spending to make it worth going into debt. Remember, all the costs of the Iraq War have been, and will be, borrowed. This action brings the day of reckoning even closer for Medicare and Social Security. This is the most fiscally irresponsible administration since Warren Harding.

I won't be spending my tax rebate. I won't be saving my tax rebate. Thats because I am not getting a tax rebate. In spite of paying close to $100,000 in federal taxes, our politicians in Washington have decided that my family of five doesn't need tax relief. Explain the fairness in refunding up to 50% of some taxpayer's federal tax with this 'rebate' and then rebating 0% to those who are really getting stuck with an excessive federal tax burden.

I'm debating whether to spend mine to pay forward on childcare or pay off credit card. It will be spent paying off something rather than buying something new. Sorry!

Seniors should definately be included in any stimulus package. The proposals should include Social Security income and well as other income. It is for 2007 income.

I believe Seniors on SSI most definitely should receive the rebate. They are living on practically poverty level.
Some actually have to pay taxes on SSI. Why give rebates to younger healthy people who don't pay taxes.
Also why give it to children.
I have paid more than my share of taxes over the years.
Taxing the middle class to death and then getting penalized for earning a living and saving is so unfair.

Senior citizens who are subsisting on Social Security will have no other option except to use a rebate to survive on. $70+ million dollars a DAY are being spent on Iraq. The republicans turn their communal backs on the most needy in this country. Wake up folks. Charity begins at home.

what about a whole family that lives above me never worked a day in their lives all drawing ssi all on drugs they should not get a dime. it would all go for drugs and alchol. talk about wasting the tax payers money my hard earned money.
