TYGA all-state boys golf team

Raleigh, Cary, Burlington and Southern Pines produced seven of the 10 players on the 2008 N.C. All-State Boys’ Golf Teams selected by the Tarheel Youth Golf Association and announced Dec. 4 by the Carolinas Golf Association.
The 30 players on the first and second teams and the honorable mention list were selected for their performances over the past 12 months.
To be eligible, boys must have played in a minimum of 10 TYGA N.C. rankings events from Dec. 1, 2007, through Nov. 30, 2008. The awards were determined by a combination of each player’s scoring differential and the total points earned in the rankings events.

Triangle teams represent North Carolina at Senior Softball USA World Championships

If you weren’t paying attention to the senior softball set, here’s some trivia: More than 1.5 million men and women over 40 play Senior Softball in the United States, according to Senior Softball USA. Clearly, Grandpa and Grandma aren’t hanging around the house waiting for the grandkids to visit - they’re probably already at the batting cages.

Quite a few of those seniors swing their bats in the Triangle, and they’re good, too - good enough to be the only teams representing North Carolina at Oct. 17-26 Senior Softball USA World Championships in Phoenix, Ariz.
