I thought political parties were supposed to stick together and be one. I must be wrong because the Dems are acting like a bunch of school children. And I'm afraid many of us are too.
This could happen in either party, but right now it's Democrats. If you are in a party where two candidates will do anything to pull each other down, I feel sorry for you. It's supposed to be all about unity. Whoever the freakin' nominee ends up being there's a chance that folks who wanted the other person may not even vote for the party in the general election. Don't believe me? Just wait and see. I think the party is dividing more and more everyday.
Barack Obama basically said the same thing his pastor said.
During his speech Tuesday, he said most of the same truths that Rev. Jeremiah Wright has said in a few of his sermons, though Obama delivered them differently.
One thing the pastor pointed out is how America is still racist, no matter what anyone says or pretends to believe. Obama pretty much echoed that thought, but was just a little more eloquent with his remarks than the pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. But he was right on point with it.
Let's just face the truth: America is one of the greatest countries in the world, if not the greatest. But America is not perfect. We've got some things to work out. Realizing that is step one.
I made it back from Florida just fine, though I-95 was rough as usual. Why don't they just fix it? I hate that highway!!
Anyway, I had a conversation with a friend of mine this morning and she made me think about something. What will happen if Obama or Hillary lose the bid for the White House? Will another female or half-black man get another shot?
This is a legitimate question because it seems like for minorities (this doesn't just apply to race or gender, either) only one or two folks get a shot before the majority says, "Well, you people had a chance and you blew it. I knew you couldn't cut it!" You may hate to admit it, but that's real.
So I guess the question is whether or not this election will open up more doors for minorities or if they are not successful, will this election close them? Think on that.
Like I've always said, I don't care who you vote for, just vote.
