Making Changes through Legislation
njadoptee
I have come to the realization that trying to make changes through the NC Legislative body, is not for those who get queazy at hard tasks.

As the chairwoman of a Non-profit organization the NC Coalition for Adoption Reform, I have personally been at the task of trying to reform NC's adoption law for the past 8 going on 9 years.

There is so much of the pomp and circumstance which goes on in the NC legislature.  If they ever stopped to look at the way they do things, they would realize there are more effecient ways of doing government.

It is a wonder that anything gets accomplished in our State government.

Tenting on the Old Camp Ground
needlepointernc
Not much more can be added to the sentiment of this old ballad written in 1864. Someone played it over the weekend (I think it was on NPR). Think about this when you vote.

We're tenting tonight on the old camp ground,
Give us a song to cheer
Our weary hearts, a song of home,
And friends we love so dear.

Many are the hearts that are weary tonight,
Wishing for the war to cease;
Many are the hearts that are looking for the right
To see the dawn of peace.
Tenting tonight, tenting tonight, tenting on the old camp ground

We've been tenting tonight on the old camp ground,
Thinking of days gone by,
Of the loved ones at home that gave us the hand
And the tear that said "Goodbye!"

We are tired of war on the old camp ground,
Many are dead and gone,
Of the brave and true who've left their homes,
Others been wounded long.

We've been fighting today on the old camp ground,
Many are lying near;
Some are dead and some are dying,
Many are in tears.

Many are the heart that are weary tonight,
Wishing for the war to cease;
Many are the hearts that are looking for the right
To see the dawn of peace
Dying tonight, dying tonight, dying on the old camp ground.

NC VET SCHOOL KILLING RESEARCH DOGS?

 According to yesterday's article in the News & Observer, "In a few months, N.C. State University will start a massive 20-year, $500 million experiment that will quadruple the size of its veterinary school, draw top medical researchers and bring new attention to Raleigh's west side. Oh, and the cows get to stay. But the research dogs...what about them?

Something smells fishy at NC State Vet School. Inquiring minds need to know.
