Rants and raves

|

Welcome to the North Raleigh News' "Rants & Raves" forum, in which citizens can sound off about life in the Triangle -- good and bad. Have you had an experience that was unnecessarily annoying or inconvenient? Give the responsible person (or business or institution) a rant! Or has someone gone out of their way to do the right thing or to be kind or accommodating? Give them a rave! Please include your full name.

Hmmm...

Can this topic become a tad less focused beyond specific persons, businesses, or institutions -- maybe rants and raves about the Triangle region in general? If so, may it be suggested to the powers that be what this region could really use to liven things up would be to host a first annual buskers festival sometime during the spring or fall when the weather is more suitable for outdoor activities and perhaps lasting a week to 10 days. There's a lot of talent yet to be discovered and this would be one sure way for people to find it. In addition, consider the potential capital generated from tourists coming in to stay for a week or more especially if the buskers festival were to go beyond a regional pool but include world class entertainers as well...

...just a thought.

World Buskers Festival

Just adding on here for those who have no idea what a buskers festival is all about -- try googling "World Buskers Festival" and check out the annual one held at Christchurch, NZ. If one reads about the revenue generated by the 2007 buskers festival in just 10 days at the World Buskers Festival at Christchurch ($3.1 million) I believe this could be one incentive beyond the obvious entertainment factors such an annual buskers festival can produce if we could get one started in our area. There's not many of these on this side of the planet so the field here is wide open and as the old saying goes, the early bird gets the worm!
