Chris Lampkins
freshmen (high school), Sanderson High School

Achievements:
Middle school was very rough for Chris. He started out at Martin Middle School and had a very bad experience in the 6th grade. That still unproven experience stuck with him for another year as a seventh grader. I struggled to get help for him academically, emotionally, and mentally. His grades faltered to F's. As a previous outgoing, charismatic kid, he had begun shutting down and hated all things around him. I was losing him fast. We researched and decided to transfer him to another school for the eighth grade. We decided on Durant Road Year Round School. This turned out to be the best decision I could have made as a single parent. Not only were his teachers in constant communication with me but his entire attitude shifted to a positive level. Being in a year round educational environment allowed him to be more focused and refreshed as well as provided his teachers a break so that they never seemed too tired or unconcerned about his well-being. Though the grades still weren't where they should've been, the opportunity was definately there for success. Now, as a freshman at Sanderson High School, Chris has blossomed to this kid with unlimited possibilities. He is a member of the school orchestra, the Parliamentarian for the Freshman Student Council, and a member of the jv football team. He now knows what he wants in life and has all the help to get there. The best side of this story is that as of last weeks' interims, Chris had all A's and B's.
