Local Animal Shelter in running for National Prize


 Please help us bring National Attention to the Triangle and win a $5,000 prize! Pam Miller, founder and executive director of SAFE Haven for Cats/SAFE Care Feline Clinic was  chosen as a finalist for “Cat Hero of the Year” today.    The contest is sponsored by Animal Planet and the makers of Fresh Step litter. On-line voting  takes place today through October 8, 2007 at www.animalplanet.com.  The winner will be  determined by popular vote.  Please help us win the $5,000. It will mean so much to the stray cats in our shelter and clinic.

(September 25, 2007) – Pam Miller, Founder and Executive Director of SAFE Haven for Cats and the SAFE Care Feline Clinic was chosen as a finalist for “Cat Hero of the Year” today. The contest is sponsored by Animal Planet and the makers of Fresh Step litter.   On-line voting between September 25 – October 8, 2007 will determine the winner. Visit www.animalplanet.com and follow the links to vote for “Cat Hero of the Year”. One vote per e-mail address is allowed. If Ms. Miller is the winner, SAFE Haven for Cats will receive a $5,000 prize to expand their adoption and spay/neuter programs.  “This is recognition of the quality program we have at SAFE Haven/SAFE Care” said Ms. Miller, “and a reflection on the dedication and hard work of hundreds of volunteers for the past 13 years.” Several thousand animal professionals were nominated.  The finalists were chosen on the basis of their level of commitment to their cause, level of accomplishments, and impact/inspirational value of their actions on others. SAFE Haven for Cats is the Triangle’s original No-Kill animal shelter. SAFE Care is the State’s only low cost spay/neuter clinic just for cats.  Since founding in 1994, they have placed and/or sterilized 8,300 cats and kittens.
