Gyre

Gyre

Located at the North Carolina Museum of Art Park off Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh, each section of Thomas Sayre's 'Gyre' was cast horizonally using reinforced concrete and iron oxide for added color and then stood up on end with a crane. Constructed in 1999 it is now one of the many outdoor attractions at the museum's outdoor park. I made this photo in early October of 2004 just after a heavy early morning fog had lifted.
