Located just off U.S. 64, the town of Zebulon is in the easternmost corner of Wake County, near where the Franklin, Nash and Johnston county lines meet. Although becoming more populous over the last few decades, and seeing more visitors with the highways that pass nearby, Zebulon is still small-town at heart, earning the nickname “The town of friendly people.” Zebulon’s total land area encompasses 13 square miles. The most recent census provided by a town demographer showed Zebulon to have 4,781 citizens.
What are the attractions?
The Carolina Mudcats offer family entertainment throughout the spring and summer. The AA affiliate of the Florida Marlins plays 70 games at home during the regular season. Zebulon has a vibrant parks and recreation program. Parks include Zebulon Community Park, Whitley Park, Gill Street Park, and Little River Park. What's the history?
The town flourished as a result of the Raleigh and Pamlico Sound Railroad Company, which in 1906 set plans for a track to pass through the dense forest that fell between the Whitley and Horton family farms. Locals Edgar B. Barbee and Falconer B. Arendell then established the Zebulon Company for development, named after Zebulon B. Vance, North Carolina’s governor during the Civil War. Electric Bills: To pay an electric bill, you can pay on site at Friend's Mart, 503 Proctor Street, Mon.-Sun., 7 a.m-6 p.m. Friend’s Mart is located at the intersection of Pearce Road and Proctor Street — near Zebulon Elementary School. You can also make payments at Wendell IGA, 2791 Wendell Blvd, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. The IGA is located on Wendell Blvd. right across from the Fire Department and beside the Neuse River Veterinary Office.

Waste Services: Trash fees can be found at Zebulon Waste Removal. Residential Garbage Rates are $15.50 for the first trash can and $12.50 for each additional trash can.

Administrative Fee: $5.40 per 1,000 gallons of water use.
Sewer: $10.50 per month

There are five schools located near Zebulon. They include Zebulon ELementary, Wakelon Elementary, Zebulon Middle School, East Wake High School, East Wake Academy. All are traditional except East Wake Academy, a modified, year-round public charter school.
Who lives here?
The median age in Zebulon was 32.8 as of the 2000 census. The racial breakdown is 53.7 percent white, 39.7 percent black, and 1.0 percent Asian. Hispanics or Latinos of any race make up 8.6 percent of the population. Bachelors degrees or higher are held by 15.7 percent of the population over 25.
