Central Carolina Hockey

The Central Carolina Hockey League is pleased to be able to offer a comprehensive set of inline hockey programs for the youth and adults of Wake County and the surrounding areas.

Our programs are based on our core beliefs in developing the knowledge and skills of the sport as well as developing positive attitudes.  We look forward to serving our local communities in one of the fastest growing inline hockey areas of the country.

Here is an article that was published in the US Hockey's National Magazine:

In 2006, the Carolina Hurricanes proved that hockey could survive in an area more known for barbecue and college basketball. Central Carolina Hockey also demonstrated that inline hockey can not only survive, but rather thrive in the area surrounding Raleigh, N.C.

Through the efforts of Jake Plancon and Chuck Carter, Central Carolina Hockey was founded in April 2005 to help grow the sport from the ground up. At the core of their cause were three key words – learn to play.

Central Carolina Hockey’s Learn To Play Hockey program has shown phenomenal growth, largely in part due to the involvement by USA Hockey InLine and Mission/Itech. This recent spike proves that inline hockey is still on the upswing.

Throughout the past two years, Central Carolina Hockey has worked closely with Mission/Itech to provide an equipment package for beginning players. Due to the quantities bought, CCH can outfit a player and send them through a 10-week instructional class for under $300.

Organizers are confident that once new players get a taste of inline hockey they’ll be hooked for life. So far the retention numbers seem to back that up as 92 percent of players sign up for league play once they’ve graduate from the learn to play program.

In the last nine months, CCH has graduated 225 beginning players, almost all of them via the Mission/Itech equipment package.  With an average graduating class size of almost 80 kids, USA Hockey’s Coordinator of Growth and Development, Kevin Couture, recognizes CCH’s program as "unprecedented."

According to Couture, "this shot of adrenaline is exactly what the sport needs. Fueling the sport at the learn to play level guarantees continued growth and success for inline hockey in North Carolina."
