Screening fine films since 1966, The Cinema, Inc. of Raleigh, NC is the oldest continuously operating nonprofit film society in North Carolina and, perhaps, the nation. The group screens one movie monthly—at 7 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month—at The Rialto Theatre, 1620 Glenwood Ave. (near Five Points) in Raleigh. Admission is by season ticket only, but our $20 season tickets are the Triangle's best entertainment bargain.
The 42nd season of The Cinema, Inc. will feature an international array of cinematic masterpieces. All of the films have both intellectual substance and aesthetic appeal and may stimulate lively discussions. Starting with Woody Allen’s Manhattan on Sept. 9th, the group will screen 12 feature films—and assorted short subjects, as time permits—for just $20. That’s only $1.67 per movie.
In addition to Manhattan (Sept. 9th), the 42nd season of The Cinema, Inc. includes: Thelonious Monk: Straight, No Chaser (Oct. 14th), The Battle of Algiers (Nov. 11th), Spirited Away (Dec. 9th), To Be and To Have (Jan. 13th), Delicatessen (Feb. 10th), Moolaadé (March 9th), Gallipoli (April 13th), Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter … and Spring (May 11th), The Trial (June 8th), Rope (July 13th), and Memento (Aug. 10th).
