Archer Lodge a town?

The Archer Lodge Municipal Exploratory Committee wants the Archer Lodge community to become a town. A public meeting was held earlier this month to discuss the benefits as well as the tax increase residents will face if Archer Lodge is incorporated. Another meeting will be Aug. 20, when residents can sign a petition in support of incorporation. Do you think Archer Lodge should become a town? Or do you think it should stay as it is, a quaint community that Clayton and Wendell have had an eye on for expansion?

I think it's great thing now

I think it's great thing now days when a community strives to keep it's roots. I know things never stay the same, but it (Archer Lodge) doesn't have to become part of another entity that could care less about it's history or what it becomes. Good Luck!

We have been living in Archer Lodge for two and one half years. Recently, my wife corrected me on the actual township name. I have always called it Archer"s" Lodge, instead of Archer Lodge.

I think it sounds better and I swear everyone else says the same. Pretty soon Archer Lodge will be annexed by Clayton. Clayton really wants this area.

Clayton will soon be taken over by Raleigh!!!!! YEOP! I am sure glad I am not connected to municipal lines from Clayton. Wake Forest, Rolesville, Garner, have all felt the impact of being on the same infastructure as Raleigh.

There SHOULD be a Town of Archer Lodge

I've lived in Archer Lodge most of my life and my roots grow deep here. Most of the newcomers I've spoken to relocated to the Archer Lodge Community because it's a rural community where there are working farms and neighbors with the right kinds of values who really 'get' what it means to live life fully. We're all a part of a community that is more of a family than just neighborhoods. We all understand that it takes a certain kind of commitment to community and respect for each other for life to work right around here. That kind of community needs to be preserved for future generations to learn from and prosper.

I really dislike the idea of houses popping up right next to

each other. That seems like a recipe for disaster. It would be another thing if the homes all had a minimum of a few acres a piece.

Archer Lodge would have been perfect twenty years ago. It is now over populated.

By the way, don't go flying around crazy Bill's 35mph curve, he might swat yah when you go over 35.

Archer Lodge

From what I gathered from going to the meetings, AL is worried about being annexed by Clayton or Wendell. In fact to be annexed the area must ask the town-Clayton or Wendell to be annexed in. Once you woul;d be annexed in you would have the same services that the town has. In fact we already have three of the four things that AL plans to provide to the new AL town. We get our water from Johnston County (if you dont have a well) and we are billed for that. We get fire protection by the Archer Lodge fire company, We are billed that in our taxes. We have county police protection. What we are missing is the zoning and planning that they wish to 'give' us. So if you do the math, they are asking you to pay up to an additional .18 cents per hundred. Meaning that the owner of an $180K  home would pay an extra $324.00 for a zoning and planning department per year. Just who will benefit from the zoning and planning? The people that this will benefit are the large landowners. If you research the Committe members of the Archer Lodge Municipal Exploratory Committee, you will see that the majority of them all own large parcels of property.  So if these members succeed, they will tax everyone in a 2 mile radius for services already received and they only need a 15% of voters to do it. Maybe that is why we haven't heard of a meeting yet? They only want certain people to know of the meeting so it can be voted on by the people that blindly think this is a good thing? How many people are REALLY aware of Archer Lodge wanting to become a town?

what you fail to mention is

what you fail to mention is how much we would all pay if we are annexed by Clayton. Since you were at the meeting you know what their tax base and we would pay a lot more than 13 cents per hundred under Clayton. Additionally, you need to do a little more home work because Clayton could annex Archer Lodge without us ever asking i.e. a hostile annexiation it has been done before and will be done again. So my friend, tell both sides not just what you want people to hear. By the way why do you think Clayton is asking for an extention to their Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) do you think they are looking down the road to taking us over, I DO.
