Who can best help manage Wake County's growth?

Growth has brought much good to Wake County, from expanding incomes to a wider menu of cultural amenities. But its rapid pace has left schools spilling over with students and adults at odds over year-round schedules and new construction. Roads are clogging more by the month, water systems are strained and property taxes are headed up for every home and business. Meanwhile, Wake’s elected commissioners, school board members and dozens of town officials blame each other.

Who can best help manage growth?

Nothing will happen unless the people of Wake Co make enough calls to legislators and county and city officials requesting action.  Without the grass-roots impetus no substantive action will happen unless events require some action be taken by default.

Most people, including myself, are not sure what needs to be done, we just know that the status quo is not the answer.  So, how do we build consensus?  Without knowledge we can't create solutions,  so the first step is to inform.  I think Matthew Eisley's story in the July 1st N&O is a good start and I hope we see more in the future.
