transformers

I really loved the movie. I love a lot of action as well as the comedy thrown in. I grew up watching transformers and this movie helped rekindle that memory of the cartoon. Great movie great action great graphics.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

The fifth Harry Potter movie was as good if not better than I expected.  Harry, and the actor, Daniel Radcliff, have grown up and are displaying a real depth of character.  It was delightful to see the level of comfort the three main characters have realized in their relationship with each other.  They can tease and argue, as well as share a few laughs.  They deeply care about each other and that is the most important part of the whole series -- their loyalty to one another.  The movie moves fairly quickly through the story line and while I would have liked to see more of some aspects, the movie generally did an excellent job of conveying the gist of the fifth book in the series.  I know I'll go see it at least one more time on the big screen and I'll buy a copy as soon as it is available on DVD.  For now, I'm biding my time to see what happens to Harry and his friends in the last book.

Transformers

I didn't expect to enjoy this movie, but my 8-year old son really wanted to see it.  He loved all the action, and the special effects were truly spectacular, especially seeing the robots "transform" in mid-air.  The story line is minimal, but it didn't detract from the movie.  The movie kept the focus on the transformers and their battles with some good bits of humor as well.  A bit crude in parts, but it seemed to go over my son's head, or at least he didn't start a potentially uncomfortable conversation.  (I haven't decided whether that means he understood or really just didn't get it.)  A fun movie for young boys and anyone who likes lots of battles and destruction.
