| seventh grade, Apex Middle School Achievements: Vivian was qualified to attend a special academic program this Summer at Appalachian State University(ASU) in Boone, NC.Developed,sponsored and facilitated by the Duke University Talent Identification Program(Duke TIP).To qualify for Duke TIP's Summer studies Program,she had taken SAT test in Jan 2007 and she earned qualifying scores that well above the average scores earn by College-bound seniors. Vivian who just came in America for only five years,didn't speak English at all when she attended 2nd grade at Olive Chapel Elementary school.After 5 years she was able to earn in SAT test for Critical reading of 520(is higher than 55% of national and 58% of State)and for Writing of 530 (is higher than 62% of national and 67% of State compare with last year's group of college-bound seniors). She is also an honor student at Apex Middle school who always has straigh A for all of her classes. Vivian was regconized for Outstanding Academic Excellence in President's Education Awards program and recieved a letter from President Bush when she was at 5th grade as well. She is honored to be qualified as a DUKE TIP student and looking forward to attending the Psychology program at ASU in this Summer. Submitted by: TIP |
