Year Round Schools

I applaud Judge Manning's decision and for all you who keep putting down Wake Cares and the Judge should hop on the next flight up NORTH.  I admire every single one of the them!!!   I dare say that the majority who are pushing for year round schools are YANKEES that need a babysitter.  I noticed on WRAL news that EVERY parent interviewed that evening in favor of year round schools were obviously YANKEES because true born southerners don't have that kind of accent..

Accept the South!  Don't come down here and try to change us.  It's not that we don't like change....we just don't want to be like the YANKEES!!!!!  Change is good IF it's handled in the right way...not demanding that we send our children to year round schools.  Accept our way of living or leave!!!!

I further agree with the Apex mayor that said the 8,000 new students was nothing more than a scare tactic.  There has never been nothing in black and white that says 8,000 new students have registered to attend Wake County schools.  BOLOGNA!!!!!

Way to go Judge Manning and Wake Cares!  We stand behind you 100%!!!!!!!

Amazing...

Some people can take ANYTHING and use it as an excuse to whine about Yankees.  What's even more impressive is that opposition to year-round seems to be centered in the CARY/Apex area, and yet it's the other side that's full of Yankees.  Huh?

LOL

Gosh, wouldn't it be great to be an inarticulate, ignorant, redneck too?  I almost assumed that anyone who lists their screen name as "adement" is some sort of jokester, but somehow your ignorance has the ring of truth.

One question.  As a "true" southerner, do you advise serving Pepsi or Mountain Dew with your KFC when guests stop by?

year round

My children have been in year round schools for 9 years.
We have loved it for many reasons and I truly think that Wake county never did a good PR job of selling the concept to families.
People have all these misconceptions about siblings being on different schedules or how child care is impossible to get arranged. My kids go to the fabulous YMCA tracking out programs and for folks who can't afford it there are scholarships. They don't get bored with a 10 week summer and they can do projects during their breaks that allow them to be more freed up during the actual school semester. We have taken some great vacations, and now that my daughters are in competitive sports that invloved travel, we don't worry about weekends spent not studying during track out periods.
Don't knock it til you've tried it. You'd be surprized how those short breaks really rejuvenate everyone.
