You're kidding, right? I

You're kidding, right?

I thought that kind of thing fell under animal activist stuff!!!!

Yee Gads!!!! You're telling me now that if I WERE a vegan (the most extreme type of vegetarian) vegetarian (which I am decidedly NOT), I not only would have to worry about what I ate but what I wore as well?

That's nuts!!!

Think I'll stick to my diet of a good rare steak at lunches and dinners and eggs and bacon for breakfasts!!!

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't
matter and those who matter don't mind."
-- Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss)

thanks from this vegan

I'm not sure which decade mememe2 is writing from, but I hope her cholesterol level is doing okay.

I've been vegetarian for years and vegan for just one. It's becoming easier to eat so healthily, as restaurants and grocery stores are catching on to this growing consumer base.  But it's more difficult to find non-leather shoes that are also stylish. I like my fashion, so I'm happy to buy online from cooler UK sites. Also, alternativeoutfitters.com has some nice things. And I bought a hot pair of vegan boots from Nordstrom this year. They're out there! It just takes a little work.

This is a growing movement, and is not only good for our bodies, but good for the environment. Thanks for the article. Anyone seriously concerned about global warming should look into how much energy goes into raising a pound of cow flesh.

thanks

You mean "raising a delicious pound of cow flesh".

What's the world coming to?

I don't quite understand the sheer lack of compassion exhibited by both mememe2 and mimm57.  (However, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised at this when the user name is me me me 2.)In case these guys aren't aware animals are sentient beings that feel pain and are capable of feeling joy, sorry, grief, and other emotions mostly associated with humans.  If you had to live your life raised in a cage allowing for no movement only to wait in line to be slaughtered you’d probably understand a little better.  To resort to such barbarianism in this day and age is absolutely appalling, but I guess as long as you don’t have to see this happening then it’s ok to make jokes.  Raising animals for food so you can make callous grunts and squeals when referring to bacon, steak, and eggs is a truly selfish enterprise.  Why not eat humans too?  What’s the real difference?  Aren’t we all made of flesh and bone?  When dressing compassionately we have to consider the plight of animals and the plight of those factory workers that are treated no better than slaves.  We are living in a world were change needs to be sought before we destroy it with our gregarious greed. The movement against eating and wearing animals is growing.  Now you can get vegan clothing from Moo Shoes, Vegan Wares, Down Bound, and many other vegan and organic clothing outlets.  It is up to us, and in our power, to finally wake up and say no to blind consumption of animal products.  We should understand that the McDonald’s commercial singing about bacon is actually a commercial singing about the slaughter of pigs.  How we can make jokes about the way these animals are treated is horrifying.  When will we learn to respect and share the world with its many wonderful creatures?
