Carolina Hurricanes

Just continue to play the style of game they have played in the past.  They are also tired, playing hurt as well.  I am very proud of our Carolina Hurricanes and this year was not our year.  I am an avid Green Bay Packer Fan living in Wisconsin most of my life and they went many years without winning anything and the City of Green Bay and all of Wisconsin still supported the team.  We can do the same here.  Be PROUD WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM AND REALLY SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR THEM.  I had hoped we would get into the playoffs , but also know it is difficult and it is also very difficult to repeat a champion again.  I will be at tonights game and also tomorrow nights game giving them my support and will also be there next year as well.

WE WILL SEE YOU IN THE FALL CANES.   REST UP, ENJOY YOUR SUMMER AND THEN COME BACK TO RALEIGH AND   GO GET THEM.

Not a wasted year

I will admit, that I am a new hockey fan.  I became hooked during game 2 of the finals.  I am a dedicated fan that now knows more then I could have ever imagined.  This whole year, I watched every game on television or listened to them on the radio.  I even got tickets to a couple for Christmas.  I also got a Ward jersey.  I dont regret one minute that I spent cheering them on.  I got a new knowledge of a great sport and got to watch a great team work to defend their titles.  I saw glimpes of the old team, but I also got glimpes of a new team that if combined with the old team, could be even better then each indidually.  I also saw a team that played with little heart, but that would also battle to win.  and to the Canes, this is only one year.... dont hold back next year and remember, that you have the Stanley Cup Champions still inside you and make sure to unleash them in 2007-2008!

It's not that hard

You had hoped they would make the playoffs, but you know it's difficult?  No offense, but it isn't that difficult.  Over half the league makes the playoffs, and every Stanley Cup champion since 1996 has made the playoffs the next year.  It's not unreasonable to expect the champion to at least make the playoffs the next season.

Interestingly, the last team time a champion missed the playoffs the next year was also the last time there was a work stoppage.  That, combined with the fact that the Hurricanes are the first team in almost 70 years to win the Stanley Cup between two seasons where they missed the playoffs, leads me to believe that 2005-06 was the fluke, not 2006-07.
