Please limit your discussion to specific thigns about the new site design that you like, and try to avoid commenting on the other points people make.

The intent here to create a place for people to respond to the N&O forum site developers, and not ake them sift through a bunch of comments unrelated to the site updates.

Navigating the threads we've started/participated in

I like the way the new site lets us navigate through our own contribution history.  We are able to look at our discussions, in a listing format.  That is more helpful than having to seach for our own username, and then sifting through the many posts we've made.

Kudos, for the "my discussions" link, and the "active discussions" link.  Keep in mind however, the "Active discussions" link ought not be used as a replacement for the old forums list of last 5 discussion, which were linked on the left side, but rather as an augmentation of it.

Likes?

I'm really trying to keep an open mind about the new forums, but I hate to say it I haven't really found much to like.

HOWEVER, one neat thing it does is you can reply to a specific post and your reply will appear right below the post you are replying to, that is much better than the old system.

The Blogs, picture galleries and groups are probably nice features too, although I haven't done anything with them yet.

I still like the people.

I still like the people here. And I'm takin' you all with me to my new forum, ENC Today.

Jeff, I left a special message just for you on my last thread here. It's called "Foggy here -- found a new forum" or somesuch. Join ENC Today, you'll be glad you did. Conservatives outnumber liberals, so they tell me. That's OK. If I wanted a forum where everybody agrees with everybody else, I'd join ALIPAC. <g>

But the people here are the only remaining good thing about this forum. And we're headed outta here. Eastward HO!

I am really lookin' forward to the day when nobody's left on this forum at all.

That'll show 'em!

I couldn't like the new

I couldn't like the new format more.  Hooray!

we only get so many days

KUDOS to the development team.  The "Comment viewing options" are far more powerful than what we had before.  This brings back some functionality which was lost at first in the new format, but you've replaced it now with something even more dynamic than what we had.

 WELL DONE.

Hit counters and ratings in the photo gallery

I love this feature in addition to the link which allows one to see all the photo contributions of any particular user. One improvement I may suggest is to somehow find a way to place a small field(s) below the thumbnails within the pages showing individual users photo contributions and in these small field(s) show the hit counts (or page views if one prefers) as well as ratings. This will without doubt save a huge amount of time as well as bandwidth for those wanting to check back on the stats of the photos they have submitted. Personally I have found the hit counters useful in determining what kinds of photos draw the most viewers to click on the thumbnails. Also the ratings I find to be very useful especially if one does not rate their own photos. This produces a raw form of constructive criticism showing what kinds or qualities of photos that people really like as compared to the rest and this can be very useful for helping to hone one's photography skills as they continue to enjoy shooting more photos.
