What do you do with e-mails that are in poor taste?

|

Gov. Beverly Perdue asked for -- and received -- the resignation of N.C. Alcoholic Beverage Commission Chairman Doug Fox because of what some say is a racist photo illustration sent from Fox's e-mail address after last November's election. The e-mail included an altered photo of the White House that turned the South Lawn into an enormous watermelon patch. The phrase, "There goes the neighborhood ..." was printed above the photo. Read the N&O story here.

Have you ever received an e-mail like this? What do you do? Forward them to others, delete them or send them back to the person who sent it?

Just roll my eyes and delete

Just roll my eyes and delete it -- and maybe reconsider my friendship with the sender.

Sometimes even the subject line is all the info I need to know before deleting without even opening an e-mail.

Someone should invent an optional personal rating system to use for incoming e-mails so that after time one can have repeat e-mails presorted by order of relative importance using software connected to this rating system and with the worst offenders bounced back to the sender with a generic 'address not found' error.

I delete some, but if I'm in

I delete some, but if I'm in the mood, I'll either send a snopes link for the urban legends or a short response about why I disagree and hit reply all. Elections are popular times for emails in poor taste, ones that threaten socialism, the end of the world, etc if so and so gets elected and the like.

I got some pretty angry responses when I disagreed with McCain supporters (some of whom are friends of relatives even)that if Obama was elected, we wouldn't be free, we'd turn socialist, he hates America, hates the Pledge, hates the anthem, is a Muslim, Muslims can't be good American. My faith in Christ was questioned and I was personally attacked, but I'm not going to let some of that junk fly around in cyberspace without a little discussion!

I find it funny...

I find it funny when people question one's faith because of a political candidate. That is really absurd, to be honest. What many folks think is that because they vote for a candidate that supports something that that's all they should do to support that particular cause. Not cool.
