As in every great Political Cartoon, the cartoonest captures more than one view and more than one story, this was a classic! Democrats everywhere should be reminded of the value of a having two party conversations.
Imagine if we'd stopped when the David Price Democrats (House of Representatives) "rolled over" on their backs and said "this it, this is it". Their bill as originated was estimate to have brought NC about 4.9 Billion Dollars. However, those Kay Hagen senate Democrats mixed it up with those "wiley" republicans, and Kay got North Carolina approximately 6.5 Billiion, with a smaller net bill. Now I guess you know why some think the Senate is the upscale arm of the Congress, with so many House Democrats running around that one would think it was just another "chicken ranch".
Well, being a good little Democrat that Voted for Kay Hagen and for Obama, this Cartoon reminds me of two things. One, that two party discussion is good for America. And, and two, that after all is said and done, and once the elections close, all Democrats and Republicans turn back into Americans, which the 6.5 Billion advantage that Kay gave us over the 4.9 Billion "starter bill" that David gave is living proof that there is more to the Powell 1993 Cartoon than meets the eye.
