Remnant of Early Telecommunications

Remnant of Early Telecommunications

Discovered near West Street, downtown Raleigh
Sometimes when I go picture snapping I feel like Conrad Reed coming back from Little Meadow Creek with this really heavy metal rock. First off I have noticed that telegraph lines like these have become very rare to find now-a-days. Finding one well intact but yet still showing its age was a serendipitous moment - this small stretch of lines upon which this is located should be considered for historic preservation not only because its extremely rare to find such a relic of this nature still existing but the cost of maintainence would also be negligible and thus become profitable simply by just being there. The nostalgia bug has already got me and I suspect there may be a number of others out there who wouldn't mind seeing that it is kept preserved for future generations. Thinking ahead as time goes on, a few generations later and after changes in the cityscape which will no doubt occur, perhaps a (The) Telecommunications Museum could be built surrounding this set of telegraph lines? Its anyone's guess now but with historic preservation the chances for becoming a reality are established.
