Over 200 Runners Kick Off Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Over 200 women participated in the 15th Annual Women’s Distance Festival 5K Race in Raleigh’s historic Mordecai neighborhood. The race marked October as national Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Interact, Wake County’s domestic violence and rape/sexual assault agency, received a portion of the proceeds from the race, sponsored by the North Carolina Roadrunners Club. WRAL-TV Reporter/Anchor Kelcey Carlson was the emcee. Mandy Hopper of Chapel Hill took first place with a course-record time of 19:43.

Interact would like to thank the sponsors of the race: Citipass, Biscuitville, Great Harvest Bread Company, The Athlete's Foot, The Triangle Tribune, The Fresh Market, Michael Law, MD - Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Laura Bromhal & The Bromhal Team at York Simpson Underwood, and Global Knowledge.
