Teen arrested for having guns in truck while on shool grounds

|

A Holly Springs teen picking up his girlfriend from Fuquay-Varina High School Tuesday afternoon was arrested after school officials noticed a shotgun and a rifle in his pickup, Fuquay-Varina police said.

Joseph Pascal Aprea, 18, was charged with two felony counts of possession of a weapon on school grounds, according to arrest warrants.

Was the punishment fair or should school officials and the police department have let him off on a warning?

This is a case of over aggressive application of the law. The teen should have received a warning by the authorities and have been sent on his way. Locking him up overnight was uncalled for.

You have got to be kidding! This kid obviously did something silly and without realizing it is against the law. I did not know you cannot drive through this area with a gun in your car. I do it every day. My GPS routes me from Stewart down a public road that curves right through the entrance to the school and on to 55. What happened to the days when the sheriff pulled you over, gave you a lecture and even possibly notified your parents that you need an attitude ajustment. No wonder we have a crazy world out there today.
