|

North Carolina QB T.J. Yates is out at least six weeks. N.C. State QB Russell Wilson is out indefinitely. Which team has the tougher predicament?

State

It's over for Pack before it could really get started. Mike Paulus will play well for UNC and plus they have the best player in the ACC, Brandon Tate.

Wolfpack

I think we're done. Wilson played pretty well against ECU and that's what sucks about this. What is his injury exactly?

NC State - Easily

Obviously State has it worse than UNC with regards to the Qb situation. Beck is awful and Evans is a joke. Paulus at least has talent unlike Beck or Evans.

Carolina is worst off

I am a true blue tarheel. But, I have to disagree. Paulus is as slow as an iceberg. Have you seen his 40 yard dash time! A few of the 300 pound lineman have faster 40 yard times!! That scares me and the average football fan. A SLOW quarterback. Take G. Little out as running back and let him run the show! At least have him as backup! Otherwise, teams will blitz, blitz, blitz and down goes the season. Hopefully, I am wrong.

My two cents!!

State is worse off unless we play Glennon

The powder blue at least has a viable backup, we have a liability for backup(s). Only if we take off the redshirt of Mike Glennon do we have a real quarterback on the field. I would have to defer to Coach O'Brien as to the best thing for State to do. Playing Glennon might just be a waste of his talent, given the current situation with the players out.

Beck (and Evans) throw too many INTs

O'Brien tried mixing Beck into the ECU game. He took 8 snaps and had an INT and a fumble. Beck has a strong arm, he just makes stupid decisions. If Wilson is out for the season, I doubt the wolfpack can get more than 2 wins with Beck/Evans unless one improves greatly, which I don't see happening since they've already had 8+ starts a piece. Between Paulus and Sexton UNC should be able to find a QB that at the least is not a liability. The wolfpack's hope is that perhaps Wilson's still vague injury won't keep him out too long.

Toss Up: Short Term-State; Long Term-UNC

In terms of predicament, State is worse off, at least initially, in that they are already missing a good number of starters and RW has shown some capability. This of course, is only in the short term or "shorter term", in that "indefinitely" is most likely less than "a minimum of 6 weeks".

From a long term standpoint, the upside to UNC's season takes a significant hit. Granted the schedule is super inviting this year and the backups may be successful, but losing TJ will make it more difficult, but not impossible, to achieve the same excellent results.
