Red-Spotted Purple Admiral

Thanks to JPO for the ID a few photos back in the archives I was reminded of this photo I made several years ago while on the trails at Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area near Hillsborough.

Great shot!!! Isn't this a beautiful butterfly!  The one I photographed was the closest I ever got to a Red-Spotted Purple Admiral and the only other time I saw one was at the same farm pond last year.
