On Wednesday, Sept. 3, the Triangle’s most savvy catering professionals will go head-to-head in a tabletop design competition. The displays will dazzle, the setting will be sumptuous and the fighting will be fierce as the Triangle Chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) hosts its 2008 Top of the Table Design Competition and Silent Auction starting at 6 p.m. at Bay 7 at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.
Every year, the organization brings together leading industry vendors to vie for top honors and raise funds through table sponsorships and auctioned items to benefit the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s programs, including the Back Pack Buddies program that provides children of low-income families backpacks filled with food for the weekend. Nearly 80,000 children in the area rely on school lunches during the week for nutrition but may not receive adequate nutrition on weekends.
While enjoying themed drinks and heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by several of the area’s leading caterers and chefs, attendees will place bids on auction items and enjoy live entertainment. Tables will be judged on the best use of color and texture, best interpretation of set themes and the most original and trend-setting design. Corporate table sponsorships are available.
Individual tickets will be available for $50 at the door.
