
The Bull City Braves- 12U team recently competed in the Triple Crown Summer Nationals in Myrtle Beach. The team finished in second place with a strong tournament performance. The touenament started with a pool play round in which the Braves finished at 2-1. Moving to single elimination bracket play the Braves were the #10 seed.
In a very tough bracket the Bull City Braves began play against Chain Baseball out of SC. The Braves knocked off Chain 10-7 to advance to the next round against the #1 seed Knoxville Stars. In what turned out to be a very exciting game, the Braves were able to knock off the nationally ranked Stars 7-5. The Braves were led by a dominating offensive display from Loy "Bubba" Stone. Loy slammed a 2- run HR in the first inning and with the Braves trailing 5-3 in the last inning, Stone ripped a grand slam over the left field wall.
The semi-final game pitted the Braves against the perennial power Norcal Grizzlies. Defense and some timely hits allowed the Braves to send the Norcal team home with a 5-4 win.
The final game was played against the #2 seeded VA Young Guns. The game was tightly contested throughout as the Braves faced a dominant pitching performance from the Young Guns hurler. The game ended in 4-0 loss for the Braves after a hard fought effort.
