"Missing Scotland already"

"Missing Scotland already"

This is the cool and peaceful scene you see when crossing the bridge from the tiny island home of the Macdonald Lords of the Isles called Finlaggan.

All that remain of the thriving thirteenth century settlement are some ruins and tombs, but it is a beautiful spot of significant Scottish historical interest on the Island of Islay,Scotland.

Very peaceful scene

Very beautiful and peaceful scene with subtle hints of history in the background. That dry stacked stone wall going over the landscape on the other side of the waters and keeping the sheep in on the left reminds me a lot of similar stone walls in the Canterbury hills near Christchurch at the south island of New Zealand, but then again there's a good bit of Scottish ancestry there too which might explain this. Excellent photo!

Please do keep this virtual tour coming - I love it!

Virtual tour of Scotland

Thank you so much for your comments and interest in my Scottish photos. It was a wonderful trip that we made , and I am sad to leave Scotland for another year. I am in the process of putting my photos up on both shutterfly and flikr ,but they need to be sorted and categorised which will take many hours. Once done I will add the links to my profile and you will be able to take a tour! (the shutterfly link is up but not all the photos have been added yet and they still need sorting, but feel free to take a peek anyway).

I would love to go to New Zealand one day-I have seen photos and I believe that some of the scenes in the Chronicles of Narnia were filmed there. It looks breathtakingly beautiful, and you are right about Scottish ancestry.

(I have distant relatives out there)!

Took a quick peek

Wow, shutterfly has changed a bit (improved a bunch!) since I was last shopping for online photo hosting sites. I'll be looking forwards to seeing more of your photos once you get them online. I may also have to reconsider shutterfly again as a site for albums as it is well designed for these. As for flickr this site is great for linking similar photos with tags (which have some great uses too.) Someday I might actually get around to joining one or both of these as its been nearly a year since I've had any albums hosted online since the last place I had any was discontinued.
