Where at one time there was only relics and a sign designating what it once was, there is now a restored structure here. So far the old ticket office, the out house, and the judge's stand have been completely restored at the Historic Occoneeche-Orange Speedway site, and the brush and other growth has been removed from the old spectator stands understandably to preserve its structural integrity. As for why they a carrying this restoration project way beyond just clearing the spectator stands is beyond me. Personally I think the area had much more mystique when all the old abandoned structures where still there - kinda like a finding a long lost and forgotten land. Now I'm not so sure... I'm glad I took plenty of photos when all the old remnants were still there!
One thing puzzles me. Once they have completed all the restorations of old abandoned structures what next, an IMAX screen at the bottom of the spectator stands for showing digitally remastered movies of old NASCAR footages taken at the Occoneechee-Orange Speedway?
Hmmm...
