This is the first butterfly I have seen here all vaction! I think the weather today brought it out-it reached 19.5 C this afternoon! (a scorcher by Scottish standards)
It is called a green-veined white and is found in hedgerows and near streams

Those flowers looks quite a bit like our blackberry flowers before they go to fruit and the butterfly is most unusual looking too at least compared to the ones we have around here. And 19.5 C in Scotland - Lucky You! That would be a blistering 67.1 F here! I heard on the radio today at work that its going to be 101 F (38.3 C) here on Tuesday, and I will be working in it too... Aaaargh!
By the way I found this most fascinating European weather satellite site online from Institu Für Meterorologie (Berlin) which has updated 12 hour satellite loops that show where all your weather is coming from. Its actually quite interesting seeing how the weather fronts interact as they approach the arctic circle too!
