Genetics could predispose some boys to a life of crime and dishonesty, according to local researchers. In a study released this week, a UNC Chapel Hill team announced that they had discovered three genes that appear to affect the probability of adolescent delinquency.

Parenting and Values
As much as I think the cutting edge of science is cool, I have to say that sometimes researchers come up with a lot of useless crap. The boys who lead lives of crime are usually a product of poor parenting, or no parenting. And these days, just turn on the TV, and you'll see that females commit crimes nearly as often as males. Whether caused by a gene, or whatever, all humans have urges or primal instincts, and the ones who are taught about personal responsibility and right from wrong can suppress these feelings and live a civilized life. What sets humans aside from animals is the ability to form cognitive thoughts, and decide what is right and wrong. Whatever instincts or urges are hardwired into us, we have the ability to suppress or control them if we know how. It's simply a matter of having proper parenting to show people how to control their urges. IMO.
