CBS and Bill Packer split!

|

CBS has confirmed that it will not bring back Billy Packer for a 28th season as its lead college basketball analyst.

The television network is expected to replace Packer with in-studio analyst Clark Kellogg and to put former ESPN commentator Greg Anthony in Kellogg's spot. Is this a good move for CBS?

This is absolutely a great

This is absolutely a great move on the part of CBS. I have been so tired of hearing his garbage for years. This is truly a great day.

Billy Packer

Thank goodness! Billy Packer allowed his personal biases and prejudices to influence his coverage as an analyst to the extreme. His coverage of the recent NCAA Men's Basketball tournament was a disgrace to his profession and left much to be desired. It's one thing to have an opinion about an individual player or team, but not so muchso that it impacts your ability to objectively provide quality coverage.

This is a wonderful day. I

This is a wonderful day. I personally wrote to CBS to have Billy Packer fired a couple of years ago, and I know many other ACC basketball fans who have also complained to CBS about him.

On the other hand, I must admit that Billy Packer has done many positive things for the game of basketball. *However, his arrogance and attitude was just too much to listen to, and really took away from the enjoyment of watching the game on television.

I cringed everytime I turned a game on, and realized that Packer was the announcer. I am so happy that we will not have that problem anymore.

Thanks CBS for listening to the fans.

Billy Packer

I have always enjoyed hearing and seeing Billy Packer. He will be missed. He personalized basketball and gave insiteful observations nobody else could match.

Thank God

Now I can leave the TV sound up before I cringed whenever Packer was the announcer. He was incredibly negative about college players and particularly ACC teams and as Duke fans know, demeaning to women. He knew the game but didn't make watching a positive experience.

BILLY PACKER

PACKER WAS A TV GUY WHO KNEW THE SPORT OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL. HE USUALLY TALKED ABOUT THE GAME THAT WAS BEING PLAYED, UNLIKE MOST OF THE OTHER GUYS WHO ALWAYS TALKED ABOUT SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE GAME THAT WAS BEING PLAYED. THIS IS THE BIGGEST DISTRACTION FORCED ON US. HE DID OFTEN MAKE COMMENTS, RELATED TO THE GAME THAT WAS NOT ALWAYS COMPLEMENTARY BUT MOST OFTEN THE TRUTH. HE WAS ONE OF THE GUYS THAT STARTED COLLEGE TV BROADCAST AND WILL BE MISSED.

Billy Packer

Wonderful day! Billy Packer should have been gone. Now I will be able to enjoy all the games without the voice of the arrogance and attitude of Billy Packer offering his opinions.

The good news...gone from

The good news...gone from CBS...the bad news...more ACC games!
