This tiny Wolf Spider blends with the bare soil really well. Here is a cropped close-up of the minuscule arachnid.

Thanks. Yeah, I usually see this kind of Wolf Spider running around on loose soil, and really low in grass, near the soil. That must be their preferred habitat and color.

The limited palette is really interesting, and the focus is really good.
You most see more bugs in one day than I see in a month. Keep sending the interesting critters!
It helps that I actively seek them out. LOL. I look carefully on every blade of grass and grain of soil for Spiders. I had to move very slowly to get my macro lens within about 3 inches of this little Wolfie. Their eyesight is almost as good as a Jumping Spider.

It is lovely to see something that is so frequently stepped on and abused by the uninformed to be celebrated in such a beautiful way....wolf spiders are some of my favorites......
Awesome. All my ultra-redneck family members kill every Spider as soon as they see it. To them, the only good Spider is a dead one. I have the opposite feeling. Spiders are beautiful and endlessly interesting. My grandpa had never even seen what a Spider really looks like until I started photographing them in high detail. He has since actually thought twice about killing some Spiders. There are so many people who know only old wives' tales about Spiders, toads, snakes, and lizards. I hope to inform as many rednecks around here as I can, beginning with my own family.

Great Shot!
This is an awesome photo - I really like the way he blends so closely to the background.
