Local Students Travel to Italy and Switzerland with Meredith College

Twenty-three students recently completed a Meredith College study abroad program in Italy and Switzerland. The program ran from May 15-June 28.
               Student participants were:

·    Lauren Dupree, rising senior, of Knightdale, N.C.;
·    Renata Heineman, rising junior, of Durham, N.C.;
·    Katelyn Hojnacki, rising junior, of Raleigh, N.C.;
·    Terri Jones, rising junior, of Knightdale, N.C.;
·    Christin Kubasko, rising junior, of Raleigh, N.C.;

·    Jennie Lee Wells, rising junior, of Wallace, N.C.
 
               Katie Clark, Kelly Murphy, Meredith Pearce, Shayna Peters, Ashley Phillips, Annelise Rogers and Sheryl Scott are continuing their study abroad experience through Meredith’s program in the United Kingdom.
The program began with four weeks in Sansepolcro, Italy, a small town located in the beautiful Tiber Valley about halfway between Florence and Rome. From Italy, the group traveled to Switzerland, first to Stechelberg where the Swiss Alps are dazzling. They then settled for the remainder of their stay in Lugano, a lovely town in Ticino, the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. In addition, students were able to travel independently to other locations in Europe during travel breaks that are built into the program.Students gained an introduction to European culture with a focus on art and architecture. Courses include Modern Drama, the History of Architectural Interiors and Furnishings, and Arts, Artifacts & Culture - the Continent.
