I hate they had to trade Cole. I mean HATE. Granted, he hasn't played quite the same since his neck injury, but he still has that crazy move that gets me off the couch and spill my beer when he scores.

I think we'll end up paying quite a bit for Pik, as he would have had a high price tag had he been a UFA. D-men went for way too much (ex:Jeff Finger!!!)
At least him and Tuomo will gel, being close friends. Maybe both will play even better, who knows.

I understand their logic thinking they could sign Babchuk, but has he really changed at all? If you watched the interview with JR, I sure don't get a fuzzy feeling. Seems more like they didn't have much of a choice, budget-wise.

Lastly, I'd rather see some prospects like Bowman and Sutter play than giving Bayda his umpteenth go.

I don't like this trade one bit. i really like cole. great speed, good moves. as a philly fan i watched pitkanen while he was with the flyers and i was so glad when they got rid of him. he can't play defense worth a damn. he plays with the shortest stick i've ever seen and he never wants to hit anybody. i know he's an offensive defensman but c'mon, you gotta hit somebody.

I've very much enjoyed watching Cole through the years. I could tell this past season this might be a possibility soon. Hopefully he can stay healthy and rejuvenate his career. Where do we replace the offense? I think we need one more threat. This isn't football where defense and a running game win championships. How about ticket prices going up after not making the playoffs!?! With gas prices soaring it will be hard to drive up from Concord. Let's Go Canes!

I was dumbfounded, and shocked, and i was so angry that Jim R would trade someone like Erik for what? i requested my season ticket refund, have had my seat in 117 for 6 years but not anymore. i took a stand and told them this is wrong, Erik is the heart and soul of this team, the way he came back from a near fatal, life threatening, career ending injury, and helped the team win a Stanley Cup. Iam his biggest fan, I literally adopted him.i never missed the games, i will miss it but i stand by my decision.

I'm also a huge Cole fan and have been deeply upset about this, but as jonathan said apparently you're not a Canes fan. I don't think Cole would want any fan to just give up their tickets.  What's next?  You going to move to Edmonton too?  I think it was a stupid move on JR's part, but it's done and we have to live with it.  The Canes are my #1 team and I'll still follow Cole and his career as I always have.  A true fan doesn't give up on their team just because their favorite player get's traded.  Sounds more like a stalker than a hockey fan. 

Although from a fan stand point the trade is stupid and it sucks. But we need to solidify a defense thats been lacking for years. We have forwards who can score...and play defense (brind'amour) now we need defensemen who can play defense but also score. The move sucks for us fans. But in the long run if we wanna make it to another cup, and soon, this had to happen.
