2004: With gas topping $4 a gallon, plenty of people probably are punching the steering wheel wishing they had had the foresight to snag a hybrid vehicle four years ago. Today, even if you wanted just an old car that gets good gas mileage, you might be out of luck. Used Hondas and Toyotas are drawing $500 to $800 more at auctions than they did just a few months ago.
