What do you think of local jailers being able to start deportation proceedings against illegal immigrants arrested for crimes ranging from traffic violations to serious offenses?

Now another side of how the increase in immigration enforcement is playing out — the Mexican consulate in Raleigh has been inundated with requests for passports and birth certificates. The Raleigh location (which serves an estimated 600,000 Mexicans in the Carolinas) has doubled the amount of passports over the past year and tripled the amount of birth certificates issued to children of Mexican parents born in the U.S. The reason: fear of deportation and the slowing economy means more people are thinking of going back.

Yes.... absolutly they should have the atheriry to deport any illigal alien in this country not just crime breakers but all send them to mexico with there anker babies and the other relitives to

throw illegal aliens out of America

Construction companies, landscapers, restaurants and poultry facilities did just fine until the 1970's employing Americans. Illegal immigration will destry America. Hosw can anyone justify that its prudent to let in what will end up being nearly 100-million uneducated NONE OF WHOM WILL ACCUMULATE A RESTIREMENT NESTEGG. Do you realize that when all these illegals are old society will pay for them? If you think medical costs are out of control now for medicaid, wait until all these illegals are old and sick. There can be no justification for forcing Americans to shoulder the current and future economic burdens of illegal immigration. It's amn unfair to this country. But since the politicians are entirely in the hip pocket of the business community, who are getting rich off illegal labor, there is nothing this pathetic country can do to stop this. To hell with politicians, to hell with the business community, TO HELL WITH AMERICA, the land of the selfish. This is not the country I was born in 45 years ago. I am embarrassed to even say I am an American.

Deportation

I definitly feel that law inforcement should be able to start deportation of anyone who is in this country illegally. I think that if he/she if here illegally and their families are here illegally also, they should be deported. They are a drain on our services that we pay hard earned tax dollar. We should stop giving them free services and then maybe they would want to go home. I'm tired of seeing all the violence that our state is being subjected too. Also, Mexicans drive like maniacs and drive drunk more than Americans do. It is in their culture. I say DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS!!

I am in complete agree with local jailers.No one here illegally should be commiting additional crimes. And driving without a license is also illegal.

NO, local police should stick to their jobs

This program is only going to take up police officers' time that they could be using to fight crime. Most of the people being deported under this program are hard-working, law-abiding, church going individuals trying to support their families. Then they end up getting deported just because of a speeding ticket.

This program is going to waste thousands of taxpayer dollars, and is only going to kill our economy. Immigrants in NC are a big part of the reason our economy has been strong in recent years and part of the reason our housing market hasn't tanked as bad as in other parts of the country. If they go, it's going to hurt us all.

Let's try to be legal

It is the job of the local police to fight crime - illegals that commit a crime will be caught, punished, and deported. How does Mexico or other Latin American countries handle illegal immigrant crimminals? I hope the federal laws will be changed to provide a clear quick path to citizenship but until that happens the laws on the books must be obeyed.

I guess you should ask the members of families that have suffered injury or death at the hands of illegals if the money should have been "wasted" enforcing the law. If you are here illegally you should be paranoid - that's the price you pay for not standing in line.

Illegal Immigrants

I think the illegals should be deported.If they
want to come here they should apply and come in
as legal aliens.We have to have someway to control who is
in our country.
