I work at Broughton Hospital.
If you want to uncover the next "WaterGate" please take the time to investigate further.
1) Why is nearly every state employee who formerly made time and 1/2 for over time upset.
2) Why were they kept in the dark about the change in the way they were paid?
3) Why isn't the State of NC obligated to have a corect pay check?
4) Does a state policy over ride a Federal law to pay time and 1/2 for over 40 hours?
I am not educated in labor law nor am I in the habit of wondering why my pay check is nearly imposible to relate to the time I work. I have never gont to work expecting my pay check to be wrong. Why am I told that "If" I learn all there is to know about how the payroll is figured and what the abreviations mean am I ever going to know if I am paid correctly. What happened to the "Good old days" when you expected the pay check to be perfect. These days are sad times when "In God We Trust" is being removed from every thing and we can not trust in our NC state payroll either.
There is no speedy correction in sight either.
I would like to remain annomus please.
Pay stubs need to be clear to understand by delineating the hours you worked in different percentage ranges, ie: 20%, 30%, OT, Hoiday, staight, sick. The money coming out of your check has to be clearly delineated. I worked tirelessly for over a year to get the state to change the paystub so that average working people could see clearly how their time was determined. I had worked in private hosptials and I only asked that we be able to read our statements so corrections could be made if necessary. On the new paystubs, instead of showing the hours you worked at various pay percentages, the amount you are paid is shown. That is NOT the best way to clearly show how your pay is figured.....showing the hours is. We need to correct that. There was also a period of time when the Wednesday to Tuesday was not in place. AFTER our schedules were already in place from Sunday to Saturday, THEY told us the system was changed.....they didn't say, STARTING on APRIL 2, we will begin a new WEDNESDAY to TUESDAY pay week......so there are glitches prior to that getting sorted out. Nurses DON"T get COMP TIME.......we get paid for working. They will have to get their computers to correlate to our pay system not us fitting into their system that has not been programmed according to the needs and contracts of the nursing staff. All sizes DO NOT FIT the Beacon system.
"We are being responsive"
"We are being responsive" must be a joke. Nobody calls back from the Beacon system or the timekeeping department at DDH. I would not call that responsive. Of course fingers are pointing in every direction, but the bottom line is the staff need to be paid! Are they going to add interest to the late payments? People not paying bills on time will certainly be charged extra.
We need answers as to when our pay will be corrected and when our leave balances will be corrected.
