Local Decorators Connect Showcase for a Cure Design to Cancer Survivor
Triangle, NC: INTERIORS by Decorating Den announced that they have incorporated the art work of cancer survivor, Katie Truemner, in the guest sanctuary they designed for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Spring Showcase for a Cure project.
INTERIORS by Decorating Den wanted to create more than just a beautiful room. They wanted to make a direct connection to the purpose of the Showcase for a Cure project, raising awareness to support cancer research. Truemner, who creates original fine art inspired by nature, was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in December of 2004. She underwent multiple surgeries until May of 2005 and has been cancer-free since.
The design team was not only uplifted by Truemner’s art, but were touched by her story, as well. They selected three of Truemner’s pieces to hang in the guest sanctuary they created: Female Nude, a water color with a warm color palette and loose detail of the human form; Cabo I and Cabo II, abstract oil and acrylics placed side by side.
“I am honored that INTERIORS by Decorating Den was moved by my story and inspired to include my artwork in their design.” stated Truemner. “Knowing that I was lucky and that the cancer could have spread much more than it had makes finding opportunities like this much more satisfying. I take it to heart.”
Showcase for a Cure is a project benefiting LLS’s Eastern North Carolina Chapter. The money raised by the Chapter enables LLS to fund research, patient and family support groups, patient education programs and more. Creedmoor Partners will host a Gala on Friday, May 30 to preview the home, which will be open to the public for viewing May 31 through June 9, 2008.
