The state Republican Party says it will air an ad linking two Democratic candidates for governor to Barack Obama's controversial former minister, despite objections from Sen. John McCain.
The ad shows video of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and then slams Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue and state Treasurer Richard Moore.
Two questions here: Should they run the ad that is scheduled to start on Monday? Also, does the Jeremiah Wright situation have anything to do with Perdue or Moore? Watch the ad below.
Also, who should drop out?Click here to join the discussion.
What a shameful ad. I am very disappointed in the GOP and John Mc Cain.
I watched the ad on youtube. It is factually correct. Obama chose to go every Sunday to a church for 20 years and listen to the anti-American, anti-White hatred from his preacher. If he was truly offended or disagreed with any of that, he would have stopped going. So he made his choice. Similarly, Perdue and Moore have made a choice in supporting someone who clearly has a problem with values and judgement. The ad has NOTHING to do with race NOR does it say that Perdue or Moore support what that lunatic preacher has been saying. It simply says that Obama has bad judgement and the (2) Democrat candidates for governor support someone with bad judgement. Nothing more or nothing less implied or stated.
The Obama campaign and the news media have essentially set a standard for this year which is that any criticism of Obama will be labelled as racist. Unfortunately, John McCain seems unwilling to criticize his likely opponent, probably because he doesn't want to be labelled racist either.
But listen to what the ad says and the facts are accurate. Ronald Reagan said it best - "facts are stubborn things". Lets focus on them and not read into them.
If Wright preached anti-white sermons for 20 years, why are there white members of Trinity? If Wright preached anti-American sermons for 20 years, why have Obama's political opponents only been able to dig up one clip? If Wright hates American, why did he volunteer for the Marines? The fact is, these aren't representative of Wright's sermons, so to say Obama "listened to them for 20 years" is blatant spin.
The ad might not be overtly racist, but it's a distortion and an attempt at guilt by association. In a year where Republican policies have really taken their toll on hardworking Americans, these political games won't cover up the fact that McCain and the Republicans have no plan to get America back on track.
Only one clip? There are a lot more than one clip and he has written quite extensively about his hatred of america. I don't think even if he only said these things once, they are so hateful and divisive that they cannot be overlooked or trivialized. He has gone out of his way to blame the governent, which in his world represents white america, for many of the problems in the black community. His church goes out of its way to associate with African heritage and continues to draw distictions between black and white. He is as bad as any member of the KKK and his affiliation with Louis Fararkan only makes this worse.
Finally, failed republican policies? Sorry, the policies of less government, lower taxes and strong defense have not taken their toll on anyone. American have more opportunities for personal advancement than any other place in the world. To be in america and blame the republicans is pathetic. The last thirty years have seen enormous increases in personal wealth for all americans. To live in america and blame the republican party for taking a toll on hardworking amerins is patehitic. For those that feel this way, look in the mirror. But then, it is always easier to blame others than blame yourself.
One needs only needs to listen to the entire sermon of Rev. Wrights now infamous clip to realize the message that god is to be worshiped, not imperfect governments. An important statement that most persons of god believe in.
I suggest that anyone inclined to criticize Rev. Wright or Barack Obama based on the very limited footage shown, and make the very important decision as to who will be our president, must base their decision on knowledge; complete knowledge and view or read the entire sermon.
Rev. Wright is not hateful. Don't be scared to know the truth. View or read the complete sermon before you judge. Don't let other or the media tell you what to think.
The facts are this: The majority of people who have a problem with Rev. Wright's message haven't even bothered to listen to the sermon in its entirety. It is no more racist or anti-American than similar speeches given by spiritual and political leaders for decades. The problem is that most people don't want to hear or acknowledge the truth. That's why America is in the condition it's in today. If you refuse to admit that problems exist, they will never, ever be fixed. You've already let an assumption and a statement taken out of context misguide your thinking. That alone is a clear example of bad judgment. I dare you to look at the big picture before jumping to false conclusions. Where did you get the idea that Rev. Wright preached about the country's ills every Sunday of every year? You are sadly mistaken if you think that the United States is blameless, innocent, and totally faultless in many of its endeavors at home or abroad. This ad does not reflect my beliefs as a North Carolinian nor does it even hint at what the US and NC could be if all its citizens would take their blinders off.
I have watched the entire sermon along with several others of Rev. Wright's and all were filled with many diatribes as you have seen in this add. Rev. Wright is a bigot who teaches hate of America from his pulpit. Any man white, black or whatever color who preaches such hate is not a religion of God. I don’t care how much good you do in the community you can still teach hate and do more harm. Pablo Escobar, the notorious Colombian Drug lord, built schools, community centers and sports arena’s for the poor; did that make him a good person? No. Just because Rev. Wright is a preacher and has outreach programs does not make him a saint either. He is a radical who preaches hate against America and whites. What if I as a white man had said these things and blamed all other races for the problems in the world as a preacher in John McCain’s Church for last twenty years? The word Crucified comes to mind. The add is appropriate. John McCain needs to Man up and shut up and stay out of NC politics.
But YOU don't know the facts. He didn't preach anti-white, anti-American hatred for 20 years. What makes you even say that? You only know that Rev. Wright said a couple of anit-American things, and those couple of things have been repeated by cable tv ad nauseum for months. TV does not show the facts.
No, Not unless they want to
No, Not unless they want to tear down a military veteran.Would they like to see what ads could come from McCain praising Rev Hagee when Rev Hagee said he wants to see America Nuked.
