The Death of Penalty

Regarding the ongoing debate about the death penalty, I offer a modest proposal:

Surgery patients are given, beforehand, some sort of anesthesia.  Thereafter some painful procedure proceeds except the patient feels no pain.  As I understand the current lethal injection process, the condemned person is put under anesthesia and then drugged to death with two other drugs, which are now argued to cause discomfort to the condemned.  I am against causing unconscious murderers any extra pain since they most likely have already been eating prison food for at least 12 years.  Their sentence reflects society’s desire that they just  go away and quit hurting people, preferably to a place where we don’t have to feed them.

I propose a simple and swift two-step procedure.  First, give the condemned inmate a goodly dose of anesthesia.  Once he is under, chop his head off.  One can argue the merits of the guillotine, axe or chainsaw.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.
