Second Chance Pet Adoptions Announces Open House and Yarn Cutting for New Cageless,         “No-Kill” Animal Adoption Center

Raleigh, N.C.Second Chance Pet Adoptions has opened a larger adoption center to help continue the organization’s goal of finding new homes for stray and abandoned Triangle animals. The new space is approximately 4,800-square-feet and is one of the largest, cageless, “no-kill” adoption centers in the state. The Open House and yarn cutting ceremony is set for Saturday April 12, from 11 am to 3 pm in the Tanager Center at 6003 Chapel Hill Road Hwy 54 West in Raleigh. The yarn cutting ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m.  Cary city council member Don Frantz will be on hand to help Second Chance dedicate the new adoption center to the public. In addition to the dedication ceremony, there will be numerous activities for the family, including pets, to enjoy such as a visit from Stormy of the Carolina Hurricanes from 12 to 1 p.m., a free Carolina Hurricanes Slap Shot Booth, free bounce house for children, a dog training challenge, microchip clinic for dogs and cats from 1 to 3 p.m. ($45 per animal), barbecue lunch, on-site dog washes and nail trimmings, face paintings, and a massage therapist giving min-massages.  “As the Triangle's first no-kill facility, we've helped thousands of animals find permanent, loving homes,” said Brian Darer, a Raleigh attorney and volunteer president of Second Chance Pet Adoptions. “Our cageless cat rooms and dog adoption room allow the public to interact with all of our animals. The new facility should help increase the number of animals we can save, and also create a warm and inviting place for the public to meet their new family members.” Supporting businesses and community groups for the new adoption center and Appreciation Open House include: Wyatt Construction, Camille’s Sidewalk Café, Sunbelt Rentals, Oberlin Animal Hospital, 850 AM The Buzz, 620 AM The Bull, Girl Scouts of N.C., and Norwake Contractor Services.   ### The mission of Second Chance is to rescue abandoned and stray cats and dogs, provide excellent care for each pet and match each pet with the best home for its needs, in order to ensure a long lifetime of safety, love and companionship.
