Controversial on-air comments about American Indians on "Bob and the Showgram" have gotten host Bob Dumas and his two co-hosts suspended until Monday, April 14.

I think the Lumbees and all Indian Tribes should be commended for standing up to this.

I also commend those who stand up for themselves and the Lumbees have behaved admirably in that there has been no violence.

Maybe the guy wasn't happy with the rewards program from the radio and he wanted to become popular with the media in the hope that another radio station will offer him a contract. The main problem is that his comments have a racism based idea and nobody agrees with racism, at least not in the public.

I reckon it was stupid of him to go on that track given the rich diversity of USA. I hope he realises his folly but my gut feeling says that it is indeed too late.

A Difference

There's a difference between freedom of speech and being horribly offensive. For example let's say that I make free games. So I make some shooting games for Sony to distribute on their PS3 brand. If I have something really offensive on it, I'm free to make it, but Sony doesn't have to distribute it. It's the same here. The guy is free to say what he wants, but like with the download games the radio station is also free to say what he can say on their station.

Don't hide behind freedom of speech. I did stop listening to him, because his opinions are foolish and obviously uninformed. Although there are other stations to listen to, I am glad to know that someone was listening. He needs to be monitored.
Unfortunately, some folks such as you are blind to the harm created by his comments.

he shouldn't have been suspended. it is called freedom of speech!! don't listen to it if you don't like it there are plenty of other stations to listen to.
