Was Roy Williams wrong for supporting Kansas?

What was up with Roy wearing the Kansas sticker and rooting for them?

Roy will not even wear

Roy will not even wear Carolina blue when he coaches, but will wear a Jayhawk!! Maybe he didn't want to beat Kansas Saturday night.

To put it another way, Coach

To put it another way, Coach Williams acted like the guy in his second marriage who is still in love with his first wife. Wearing that KU logo last night was like a husband carrying around a picture of his first wife in his wallet. What is his current wife supposed to make of that?

Roy Williams

Actually, I think having respect for a first wife after marrying a second is a good thing. If I were the second wife I would rather my husband still respect the first one just as Roy still has great respect for the Kansas basketball program. He even said that Kansas is his second love as far as basketball and that those attending his student basketball camps can wear two shirts - UNC or Kansas. Makes sense to me.

But without a doubt Carolina is his true love. After all he came home to us and has done nothing but great things for us. How fickle can some UNC fans be! Come on guys, we have the best coach in the entire nation. I for one would not trade him for anyone given the chance. And he loves this group of players more than any coach I have ever seen. He only has the greatest things to say about them and he looks at them all, especially at TYler, as if he adores them.

OK - we did not win the NCAA final game, but we made it to the final four and won more games than any Carolina team ever. It was an awesome year. No one can win every game every night. Get over it! I will take Roy next year and the next and on and on until he finally retires. With Roy we will have the best winning percentage and the best coached players. Now as fans lets also get with the program and be the best fans - not griping, sniveling, backstabbing fans like some of the other area schools.

Go Heels and thanks for Roy's boys - what they accomplished this year and what will be in 2009!

Roy William's first and second wife

Personally, I think Roy is in favor of polygamy, so all this first wife/second wife discussion probably has him chuckling to himself and his wives.

Roys Hawkeyed mindlessness

It was inappropriate....If you were a player for Roy and yo u just lost an emotional final 4 and your coach was seen the next game wearing the victor's mascot emblazoned on his shirt how do you think that would make you feel? Nuff said...his judgement is questionable just like his lack of bench coaching during the last two NCAA tournament losses. Bench coaching is appropriate...wearing competitors insignia on national tv is not.

Roy has class!!!

Roy Williams showed nothing but class wearing the Kansas mascot during the championship game. Carolina was extremely lucky to lure him from Kansas. Roy has caught quite a bit of slack since leaving Kansas from his former fans. He has showed much more class than those fans deserved. Carolina has him as their coach and we, as fans, are proud to have him and his class!

I also understand Roy wanted

I also understand Roy wanted to show respect...but why wear the Jayhawk sticker! Just like he told Coach K. to coach his own damn team!...he should have been supporting his own damn team! I hope he was taking notes from Self on how to change the defense until something works, instead of sitting there like a deer caught in headlights.

Roy, going home is not going back to the "former wife"

OK, Carolinians, listen up. A KU (or Illinois) fan has some earned-space to talk here, about being "jilted".
FORGET the broadcasters, the absolutely majority of KU fans wish Roy all the best. It's not about marriage, unless your girfriend or wife. It's about HOME. And We get it that Roy was GOING HOME. Kansans above all people understand "there's no place like home".

We are grateful to Roy, because as you say he is the greatest living coach. I've lived in Kentucky, and I adore North Carolina, and they would be my second emotional homes, Kansas first. You can still love Kentucky or NC as a place to be/live/work (like Roy loves Kansas) and still have your first love as your home.

So quit the overstretched "i'm offended crap".

Besides, I can tell you for a fact that KU fans almost to the last dog here root like mad for UNC whenever you face Duke. It's certainly not disloyal for Roy to root for us as his "second favorite home" and former team, when we do the same for you re: Duke and most of the rest of the country.

Roy's a choker...

Well Tar Heel fans, you wanted him, you've got him, and we are glad. Yes, Roy came here to cut his teeth in coaching and with Kansas he did great things. We truly appreciate where he brought the program, because that's why we attracted Self. But now you know what we went through time and again. He can't finish the job, no matter how good the foreplay is. You'll see, the only time he came close is the year your beloved Dean screwed him out of it, by distracting him to the point of loosing. The only one he won was with another coaches players. But then he learned how to choke from the master. The great Dean only won two championships in his whole 30 plus years. And those two wins were pretty sad, by 1 point, and then by a technical. Talk about luck. We have the greatest coach and thankfully he's not running back home to Daddy, he's manning up and building his own legacy. One that has a lot of titles in the future.

Roy: Assistant Coach - yes, Head Coach - no

Roy is not head coach material. He has been fooling you all for quite some time. I much prefer Dean as head and Roy as an assistant. Roy is much more tolerable as an assistant coach.

Any 'real/true' head coach with the team talent he had this year should have taken the whole enchilada!

A true head coach would have made sure his team was mentally prepared for the finals! It's obvious this team was not prepared for the Kansas game.

How embarrassing! Psycho-T should transfer to Kansas.

UNC needs to apologize to Matt D !

Roy should quit !
