DEF LEPPARD, STYX, REO SPEEDWAGON
Greensboro Coliseum
Thursday, March 27, 2008

Love Greensboro, walk right in with no searches/metal detectors and that was a good thing for more than one reason because everyone wanted to be there at the early 7:00pm start time since the triple-threat line-up wasn't anything you wanted to miss a minute of.

Who remembered that REO has so many hits:
Don't Let Him Go
Take It On The Run
Ridin' The Storm Out
Keep On Loving You
Can't Fight This Feeling

Neal Doughtry on keys is the sole remaining founding member but Kevin Cronin did a front man 9-on-the-10 scale of presentation and powered these songs through the venue. Bruce Hall on bass with long straight blond hair flipping back from his eyes jumped to the center position was all
smiles and intensity as he sang "Back On The Road Again".

Rotating to fire off bullet number two in this three chamber weapon with STYX:
Lady
Lorelei
Come Sail Away
Fooling Yourself
Blue Collar Man
Mr. Roboto

Lead Singer James Young did his part but STYX is not a one man show, Tommy Shaw killed with his axe and keyboardist Lawrence Gowen danced with his pedestal'ed keyboard even to the point of playing his organ backwards with any kinky meaning you can make out of that.

Do you catch the gist here? I've been hit with so many hits I feel like I've been beat-up with a rock and with DEF LEPPARD in the final chamber to be fired the hit parade will be dancing all the way down the street.

Experienced Def Leppard aficionados know what's coming with the PA starts playing AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)"; It's a heads-up, we are about to rock.

The massive diamond screen overhead blazed a British Union Jack then it was thrilling to see images of the hard-drinking, hell-raising STEVE CLARK, who died in '91 (with a blood alcohol content of 0.59), hilighted with his image and name with a sustained viewing.

In the record versions of "Armageddon It" singer Joe Elliott leads in to a guitar riff by Steve saying "COME ON STEVE' but they don't use that live any longer but every time that point comes around in the song I scream it: "COME ON STEVE!"

Several times Joe told the screaming crowd that Def Leppard is celebrating their 21st year. It's like a great classic ride at Disneyland that you get off of and run as fast as possible to get back in line to ride again:
Bringin' On The Heartbreak
Photograph
Rock Of Ages
Foolin'
Pour Some Sugar On Me
Rocket
Stand Up

It was a night of being pummeled by hits.
