Almost everywhere you go, what you do is being recorded. While shopping, driving or buying a sandwhich from Quiznos you may be taped. Are these cameras an invasion of privacy or are they helpful?
Unless one is wearing their name or has some other form of identification (such as license plates. etc.) when being photographed chances are that whomever is reviewing those images has no idea who the people are that they are looking at... unless something happens, and then they have an image (or images) to use for identification purposes to find this person or persons...
...however this is not quite the same as having our ISPs to have the ability to keep logs of every webpage we visit and every e-mail sent or received and having no idea what part (all or any?) has been seen or will be seen, and what degree of algorithms are used for predictive purposes, etc.
Cameras
I think that it is fine and dandy if private property owners want to place camera everywhere on their property. It's fine to have cameras in stores and resturants. That is the owner's option, and you basically agree to be filmed by stepping into their establishment. But when the government goes putting up cameras all over the place, that is just not right. The government is not supposed to be able to spy on everyone all the time. It's not right when you can't even drive down the road without being recorded.
