Ravenscroft seniors Rush Dorsett and Taylor Rankin participated in the North Carolina National Association of Teacher's of Singing (NATS) Vocal Competition in Winston-Salem at the School of the Arts on Feb. 16.
Each girl prepared three pieces for adjudication by four judges from across the state. Both Dorsett and Rankin auditioned in the Advanced Junior and Senior Women's Classical categories.
Dorsett took first place overall in her category and was honored by a small cash award and a performance that evening, along with the other winners, for all audition participants and judges. Rankin scored a superior ranking, qualifying her to compete at the Regional Competition in Virginia.
