I am an elementary educator frustrated with all the hoops they ask us to jump through. Using test scores to point the finger at our inadequecies without taking everything that effects the test outcome into account also fires me up. I have just been unfairly judged and put into a bad position because the test scores came back low and the principal wanted to look like she had taken care of "the problem". What was not put into the equation was the childrens' backgrounds and home life and their attitudes toward taking the test. I had several children that "Christmas Treed" the test, bubbling in any old answer all the way down the test, and others that didn't take it seriously because it wasn't "the real test". I also know that most of the teaching jobs I've had over the last 8 years have had me so spread out trying to teach 6 or 7 subjects that I couldn't teach any one of them well. I am so jaded to Public Education right now. My real talent lies in Learning Disablities in the Reading area, either in direct education or research. Are there any jobs out there? I just want to find success in my chosen field!!!
