What’s the skinny on this year’s Thin Mints?

|

Have you had the new Thin Mints? What do you think about them? Some say they don't taste the same. Do your prefer the old ones over the new?

Thin Mints

They seem salty, bland and uncrisp. I do not like them and wished that I had not ordered so many boxes.

What's a 'thin mint'?

What's a 'thin mint'?

Thin Mints

I'm 57 years old and sold cookies many many years ago. I've been eating the Thin Mints for 40-50 years and this will be my last year buying any cookies from the scouts. They are nowhere near the same cookie.....just not a "Thin Mint" now. They're dry tasting and hardly any mint taste. I have a box of "Tagalongs" in my pantry, but now I'm tempted to just throw them out. I dread opening them. Why did they change bakers????????????????
"If it ain't broke...don't fix it."

No longer a Girl Scout Cookie buyer.............

thin mints or thin hearts???

The bad press the Girl Scouts are recieving has astounded me. When you buy a box of Girl Scout Cookies you are not just filling up on calories, you are supporting girls in our area. You are sending them to girl scout meetings and earning badges. You are giving them an opportunity to learn and practice the Girl Scout Law. Don't know the Law? Here it is: I will do my best to honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, and make the work a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout. The negative comments posted must be from people who have never been a Girl Scout, don't have a Girl Scout in the family or have never been helped by a Girl Scout. Otherwise I don't see how anyone can say they will NEVER buy another box. The impact goes beyond your taste buds. It saddens me that girls in my troop and others across the area will have to deal with the harshness of these posters and the comments recieved at cookies booths. The Girl Scout Council and the baker have gone above and beyond, trying to rectify the problem. Instead of celebrating all the many wonderful things Girl Scouts does for our area the writer of this post and the News and Observer article focused on something that should have been in the food critic column, not the front page news. Where were the comments when the Girl Scouts organized blanket drives for the poor and homeless? Who applauded my girl scout brownies when they organized Presents for Patients at Duke's Children Hospital? I would encourage people who don't like the cookies to donate money directly to the troop next year if we are using the same cookie baker. The girls only recieve 45 cents for every box they sell. I think people have forgotten that the Girl Scout Cookie Sale is a fund raiser for an organization that nurtures little girls into what I hope will be more compassionate women of the future.
Thank you for reading. The next time you see a Girl Scout, please don't complain directly to them or the troop leaders. A smile would be nice.

AMEN!!

AMEN!!

But the bottom line is, the

But the bottom line is, the cookies are awful now. No matter how great the cause is, and I think Girl Scouts is a great cause--three of my sisters were Girl Scouts, the quality of the product that brings in the most revenue for the Scouts is poor. Especially in comparison to how they used to taste and look back in the day. What more sales? Want people to stop bashing GS cookies? Then start selling a higher quality and better tasting product.

The reason Girl Scout

The reason Girl Scout cookies have sold so well for so many years is because of their reputation for excellent cookies. Good incentive. Take the incentive away, and sales will drop. That's just the way it is. I got my usual box of Thin Mints and was very disappointed. They were awful. I am hopeful that the Girl Scouts will fix the problem because if they don't they are going to loose their marketing edge - Great taste.

I did not and would not complain to those selling the cookies, but I think the big wigs need to resolve this issue or they will find themselves with alot of cookies left over. That's just reality whether we agree with it or not.

Girl Scout Cookies

Dummy me bought a dozen to give as Valentine gifts! Now I'm calling to apologize! Peanut Butter cookies taste as though they have been frozen and thawed! They "bend" rather than "break" like the old ones. Come on Girl Scouts! Your Public loves supporting you but give us something we all can be proud of!

Great cookies!! and a Great Cause

I've bought at least one box of each of the Girl Scout cookies this year and they are GREAT! The new names are a little hard to get used to, but those Lemonades are to die for!!! I hope everyone will give them a try. My daughter was a Girl Scout several years ago and her troop sold cookies so the girls could do all sorts of things. They even went to New York for 10 days! It's really a good cause and the girls get so much out of it. My daughter is in sales now and she says that selling all those cookies is where she got her customer service skills. Way to go Girl Scouts!

I bought 6 boxes, 3 of the Peanut Butter Patties and 3 Peanut Butter Sandwiches. Always were family favorites. These are awful. Tasteless and look as if they were made 10 years ago. I'm putting them out for the deer. Let's see whether they will eat them.
